Polytropic swimming pool heat pumps

Polytropic, a specialist in pool heating, has been offering several ranges of reliable and quiet pool heat pumps for nearly 20 years. They meet the specific requirements of each type of pool, from 15 m³ to 160 m³ and above. Each range offers several power ratings from 1.5 kW to 84.2 kW depending on the required characteristics.

The choice of power output must be based on several parameters, such as the type of pool and the volume of water. Other criteria are also taken into account:

  • Type of cover (tarpaulin, shelter, shutter);
  • Geographical area;
  • Weather conditions;
  • Exposure of the pool;
  • Use of the pool (occasional, daily);
  • Planned swimming period (May to October, all year round);
  • Desired features (heating, cooling);
  • Required connectivity.

You want to heat:

  • An in-ground or semi-inground residential swimming pool, covered, sheltered or outdoor;
  • A small private swimming pool or above-ground swimming pool;
  • A spa/heater for a jacuzzi;
  • a swimming pool by installing the heat pump in the plant room;
  • cooling a pool for cryotherapy applications / a rehabilitation pool / a cold water sports or wellness pool / a swimming pool in a physiotherapy practice;
  • one or more large swimming pools / heating public or semi-public swimming pools / heating campsite swimming pools / heating hotel swimming pools.

There are heat pumps for swimming pools for all areas!

Why heat with a swimming pool heat pump?

A swimming pool heat pump makes it easy to achieve the ideal swimming temperature and extend the period during which you can use your pool. It is also the most efficient heating method and reduces your energy bills.

  • Performance and energy savings: It is currently the most environmentally friendly and efficient means of heating swimming pools on the market. A heat pump consumes less energy than an electric heater.
  • Ease of installation and use: The pool heat pump is easy to install during pool construction or added as additional equipment during a pool renovation to improve user comfort.
  • Extended swimming season: A pool heat pump allows you to ignore the outside temperature and enjoy your pool from May to October or all year round. Maximise your swimming pleasure!
  • Comfortable swimming and peace of mind: Set the desired water temperature on your heat pump display and the pool water will be automatically maintained at a constant temperature. You can enjoy your pool in complete peace of mind and in the best conditions!

Installation of a swimming pool heat pump

A swimming pool heat pump is installed outdoors (except for Polytropic’s exclusive INDOOR model, which is designed to be installed inside the plant room!).

The pool heat pump is installed in the filtration system by means of a simple hydraulic and electrical connection, after the filter and before any water treatment system.

It can be installed during the construction of a new pool or as part of the renovation of an existing pool.

For optimal use and performance, several environmental factors must be taken into account. Your pool heat pump must be installed by a certified professional: call on your pool specialist!

How does a swimming pool heat pump work?

Heat pumps for heating swimming pools are air-to-water type. They extract energy from the air, convert it into heat and transfer it to the pool water via a heat exchanger.

Several technologies are available: on/off, full-inverter or inverter pool heat pumps. Full inverter pool heat pumps operate in a ‘smart’ way, adjusting their compression speed according to the air and water temperatures.

The technology used, the design, sound insulation, correct sizing (choice of power), proper use and installation of the heat pump all affect the noise level.

Please note: some models are reversible and can cool the pool water.

Heat pumps can be horizontal or vertical depending on the position of the fan, which does not affect performance.

We are seeing the emergence of connected models that can be programmed and controlled remotely via a smartphone or tablet app.
